When the transformer is used in the box-type substation, the heat dissipation and cooling of the transformer are the primary concerns of the staff. Generally speaking, there are two measures for the cooling of transformers: natural ventilation and unnatural ventilation. Natural ventilation is to rely entirely on natural forces to allow outdoor air to flow into the room and let the indoor air out of the room. There are two driving forces for this kind of natural ventilation: the ventilation effect caused by the air pressure difference caused by the temperature difference and altitude difference between indoor and outdoor. Ventilation caused by different wind speeds indoors and outdoors. Mechanical ventilation Mechanical ventilation is the ventilation achieved by mechanical and electrical equipment such as exhaust fans and blowers.

In order to better solve the problem of heat dissipation and cooling of transformers, oil-immersed transformer manufacturers introduce effective measures for heat dissipation and cooling of transformers:

1. In order to solve the heat dissipation problem of the main transformer in the indoor substation, the mechanical structure of the transformer is first solved, and the split transformer is adopted. The transformer body and the radiator are arranged separately to increase the heat radiation area of the transformer.

2. Lower the transformer and place the transformer in a lower temperature area indoors to enhance the heat dissipation effect of the transformer.

3. Low-loss transformer is used to reduce the temperature rise of the winding.

4. Reasonably choose the area of the ventilation window. Each split transformer is equipped with 16 sets of radiators, which are arranged in a separate room respectively. Two 2.5m×1.5m ventilation blinds are set in the lower part of each radiator room, and the upper part of the radiator room is not capped, so that it will not affect the operating personnel. The inspection of the radiator can also ensure that the radiator room has sufficient air intake area and adopts natural ventilation. Ventilation shutters are arranged under the transformer body room with an area of about 15m2 and a height of 1.5m, which is convenient for operators to patrol. Among them, the roof is equipped with two 1.5m×1.5m×8.4m ventilation shafts, adopting the form of vertical ventilation, using the chimney effect principle and optimized ventilation structure to make it have strong heat dissipation capacity.

5. In addition to the air inlet shutters and ventilation shafts, a mechanical exhaust-low-noise axial fan is also installed to jointly complete the ventilation task of the transformer body, so that the exhaust fan is put into operation when the transformer load is full in summer.
